Reminiscent of the elegant 20th century, this piece is inspired by the standing ashtray that Marine Breynaert use to see in her grandparents’ living room. She revisits them with a contemporary eye. She summons the atmosphere of Parisian brasseries and smoking rooms, warm, tight social spaces, inviting conversation. Ashtrays punctuate the space: semicolons for the eye, they are no longer just for smokers.
