Types of stripes, A Portfolio of Photo Lithographs by Jay Seeley, from a limited edition of 100, of which this is number 32. Seeley took photographs of the model, and then manipulated the images to the point of near abstraction. The use of stripes to convey positive and negative spaces in order to give the illusion of three dimensions is brilliant. This set was hand-printed onto lithographic plates by Light Impressions in Rochester, NY in 1977. Each print is signed in pencil by the artist and is presented in its original mat. Taken together, they are a brilliant example of ‘70s Modernism. The original clamshell box and prospectus are included.
Please note: The moire patterns on the more closely spaced striped prints are an aftereffect of our photography. The lines are very clear in person.
