An extraordinarily finely-painted sauce boat with scrolling handle made for the American market 1790-1810.
Deep cobalt decoration showing an adult following a child in a landscape holding a fan. The overall shape was inspired by work of the silversmiths of the period. It is rare in that there are very few sauce boats surviving from the dinner sets exported to America and Europe in the 18th century.

There is one pinhead kiln pop on the handle acquired during manufacture along with a few instances of kiln grit in the inner bowl both indicative of works created during the period. Otherwise, the piece is free from any other blemish

Measures 8 1/2″ (21.5cm) in length. 2 1/2″ (6.25cm) in width and 7″ (18cm) in height. Weight is approx. 22 ounces
