19th Century Japanese Flying Phoenix Charger 1880-1900 Meiji

A strikingly hand-painted imari masterpiece from the late 1800’s. Remarkably well cared-for. A highly-stylized phoenix is at the center surrounded by flowers and leaves. The cobalt blue rim is highlighted by gilt. Sprigs of leaves and flowers make up the remaining of the center space. A blue scroll and vine design surrounds the under rim.

There are no chips or cracks whatsoever. There are a few tiny pinholes noted in the glaze which is typical of the firing limitations of the time, and the age of the piece.
