Pair of antique Native American moccasins dating to the late Classic Period (1650-1875). Hand crafted by a Sioux, Plains Indian, artisan, circa 1870s. The moccasins are constructed of native tanned buckskin (deer hide) with bands of quill work; the quills were dyed in colors of orange red, blue and yellow. Hand beaded around the soles with glass trade beads in blue, white, green and white-heart red. With rawhide soles and trade cloth sewn around the openings. Each moccasin measures approximately 11.75 inches along the sole from toe to heel, 4.25 inches in width and 4.5 inches in height.
