Vintage Design
We offer you a Wall Hanger that is an expression of expert Italian craftsmanship, dating back to the 50s and 60s, this Wall Coat Rack from the mid-twentieth century is made using canes, rattan and bamboo, curved by hand. Two different techniques were used to flex the rushes, that of heat and that of immersing the rushes in water to soften them so as to be able to give them the desired shape inside special molds. Consisting of 4 arms, each ending with a hook, they are anchored to a rectangular frame, decorated with a splendid wave motif reminiscent of the metal seats designed by Gio Ponti for Casa e Giardino in the late 1950s. We have no information that allows us to attribute the authorship of this article but Italian design has a long history of important articles made of cane designed by very relevant designers such as Franco Albini, Tito Angnoli, Franca Helg, Gio Ponti etc. from which also a craftsman may have taken inspiration to create this splendid Wall Coat Rack in his workshop. The patina and color of this object are splendid, it has undergone a conservative restoration by our trusted restorer, it will arrive at your home as beautiful as it appears in the photo.
