Mid-century, vintage side table with drawer by herbert e. Gibbs, circa 1950s – 60s.
piece is made of solid oak, and a top made of english plywood with rounded edges and has a nice, mellow, brown color.
the fully functional drawer, has a streamlined, minimalist design with dove tail joints and no pull knob, rather a space under the front, enabling one to open it (see photos.)
the maker’s mark “herbert e. Gibbs”, is present, fully intact, and can be found under the drawer (see photo.)
piece is in overall good, original and vintage condition, with some light marks, signs of age and previous use commensurate with time, as well as a patina of time, on the overall structure, top, edges, drawer front, sides and legs, as can be expected for a piece of this age. The inside of the drawer is clean, with some light marks of time and previous use (see photos.)
the piece is solid, stable and sturdy and would look great in a variety of rooms, whether used as a side table in a living room, den or office, as well as a nightstand/bedside table in a bedroom.
all photos taken in natural outdoor light, so colors may vary based upon brightness, angles and perspective in which they are viewed.
