A beautiful pair of ebonised and amboyna inlaid pier cabinets dating to the mid Victorian period. Rarely found with glass sides this pair of cabinets are superbly made featuring finely inlaid paterae with beautifully figured amboyna inlays bounded by box and ebony stringing, corner pilasters with gilt-metal Corinthian column capitals and brass beading and mouldings. The interiors with original navy blue velvet lining and two shelves with ebonised and boxwood inlaid edges, the plinth bases raised on ebonised turned feet. The doors fitted with ‘Tubbs Bros’ secure lever locks and with a working key. Overall a super pair of pier or side display cabinets in very good condition, marks commensurate with age and use, velvet worn in places.
