Vintage Design
Stunning sommerso Murano glass bowl by Alessandro Mandruzzato (Italy, 1970s). Made of beautifully faceted blue, yellow and transparent glass. Extremely decorative. Can be used as a small bowl, a catch-all/vide-poche, an ashtray or just as a decorative object.
Width: 10.5 cm/4.1”; depth: 9 cm/3.5”; height: 5.5 cm/2.2”. Excellent vintage condition. No chips, no cracks, no flea bites.
“Sommerso” (Italian for ”submerged”) is a technique developed in Murano in the 1930s which became very popular in the 1950s-70s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly cased by a clear layer.
